about

lyrics

A teddy here, a teddy there
Barbies used to lie everywhere
In that corner there was a chair
In the closet a dragon's lair
Marbles, trinkets, tiny toys
And some building blocks made for boys
"I won't grow up!" said my tiny voice
But it seems I had no choice

I'm packing away my childhood in a box
I study all day, I never play, so I'll pack it away
My worldview changed from 3 foot 2 to 5 foot 3
One by one I felt I was done with the things around me
So I'm packing away my childhood in a box

First to go were tiny things: garage sale victims
Childish books had to go, their reading level way too low
Barbies packed in boxes, too
"Bye bye, Barbie, nice meeting you,
There's so much more that I can do
Now I've reached 4 foot 2"

I'm packing away my childhood in a box
I study all day, I never play, so I'll pack it away
My worldview changed from 3 foot 2 to 5 foot 3
One by one I felt I was done with the things around me
So I'm packing away my childhood in a box

Age is just a number, even eighteen,
But the thought of it sure turns me awful green
Where did the time go? It's so unfair.
What do you do when a table's just a table
and a chair is just a chair?

So I'll fill in bubbles A through E
because that's what you ask of me
And I'll make my way in this world, you'll see
From the little Lego lover that I used to be
But today I grew up, and I only just realized
So I hope you'll understand when you see the tears in my eyes
'Cause I'm packing away the last of my childhood
In a box
In the attic
In a box
In the closet
In a box
In the basement
In a box
Goodbye childhood
In a box
